We Are What We Repeatedly Do

We define people by the patterns we see in them.  We trust those that are repeatedly reliable and distrust those that repeatedly lie or tell our secrets to others.  We gain confidence by repeating a skill successfully and lose confidence from repeatedly failing.  Repetition is a convincing argument.

Each thought we have and action we take casts a vote for the person we are.  If we want to be healthy, then we need to exercise and eat right more than we are lazy and eat junk food.  We need to decide who we want to be and start acting like that person.  Start casting those votes in the right direction.  It may be a long process.  If so far in our life we’ve cast the majority of our votes towards being an unhealthy person, then it will take some time and effort to catch up.  But if we repeatedly make healthy decisions, then we will become healthy.

We will make mistakes and act opposite of how we want, and that’s ok.  That’s just one vote.  Recognize what went wrong, fix it, and repeat your healthy actions.  We are not defined by a single mistake or by the day we gave in to our old, bad habits.  We are what we repeatedly do.
